ENCOREplus
Educates and screens medically underserved women for breast and cervical cancer. Our outreach efforts to reach women of diverse ethnic and socio-cultural backgrounds are extensive. We outreach and educate women about the importance of the early detection of breast cancer, as well as coordinate monthly Block Screening Clinics to provide women with pap tests, clinical breast exams and mammograms. We also remove barriers women face that may preclude them from receiving services by providing transportation, childcare and interpreters. For more information, please call 644-9620.Lend a helping hand
A new program that provides direct services to individuals undergoing treatment for breast or gynecological cancer. Clients choose from a variety of services that will lighten the stress cancer treatment creates for both the patient and family, including (but not limited to): house cleaning; transportation to medical appointments; financial assistance; meal preparation; massage therapy and childcare. For more information, please call 644-9620.
Men Too
A new program that provides education and outreach about men and breast cancer, as well as financial support for men who need breast cancer screening. For more information, please call 644-9620.

Congratulations to Breast Cancer Focus Inc. (BCFI) on their 19th Annual Luncheon and Seminars held May 6, 2011! BCFI is an all-volunteer organization committed to raising funds and making a positive impact on the Alaskan breast cancer community. During the luncheon, BCFI announced its 2011 grant awards, including a $65,000 grant to the YWCA's Women's Wellness Program. We are thankful for the support of BCFI and for all they do to raise awareness in Alaska about the fight against breast cancer. Please visit breastcancerfocus.org for more information on BCFI.
Thank you to Fred Meyer Stores for making a $45,000 donation to the Women's Wellness ENCOREplus program! As part of the Kroger family of stores, Fred Meyer is committed to supporting breast cancer awareness, treatment and research. During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), Fred Meyer partnered with key vendors to raise funds for a program called Giving Hope a Hand. Funds raised under this program are spent in the communities where Fred Meyer customers and associates live and work.
ENCOREplus wishes to thank the Avon Foundation for granting $35,000 in funds to help continue with its' outreach efforts and education. The money for the Avon Breast Health Outreach Program comes from the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, www.avonbhop.org. Funds are raised through the sale of Crusade fundraising products, walks and other special events around the world; the U.S. Avon Walk for Breast Cancer series; and the global Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer.
