Young People of Achievement

For 17 years, we have recognized youth ages 16 – 18 who have overcome significant obstacles in their lives while embodying YWCA Alaska’s mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families and strengthen communities while promoting dignity, peace, freedom and justice for all.

This award celebrates the remarkable youth in our state and encourages them to develop into strong leaders, increase self-confidence, and to create a more caring, and inclusive community.  Not only are youth surrounded by the leaders they can one day be, but they also receive a cash scholarship and one-on-one financial counseling from the YWCA Economic Empowerment staff to help them start their education or careers on a solid foundation.
